So it's about time we did a news update lasts more than two sentences. On last checkin we were talking about the shadowbane reset .. which was a blast. TKG had a month or two of great PVP with plenty of fights and a few sieges, and certainly got reminded the difference it makes to play a game designed around PVP. Unfortunately, the mine and siege windows being limited to US hours (6am-1pm our time) meant we usually missed all the best PVP action so, as expected, it was a good time not a long time.

Age of Conan then came along, and the short summary was "great graphics, crap game". Maybe a dozen people bought the game, of which 5-6 hung in till nearly max level with most doing 20-30 levels and hitting the couch to wait for Warhammer. The only good thing to come out of AOC was a couple of quality new members for the crew.

Which brings us to now, and a game that looks like we're all going to be licking the window regularly over the next few months. Warhammer's preview weekend has just been and gone, and those of us who had the preorder (12-15) got to find out first hand why the boys in closed beta have been raving. The long and the short is "we're sold". The game was solid, gameplay was great, and all in all it seems in far better shape than the last two games we've tried on launch. The best part is, it's built around PVP - PVE is just something you do in between times.

The only question remaining is whether we roll Order or Destruction. We pretty much unanimously prefer destruction, but after our experience being on the "dominant numbers" side in EQ2 are committed to rolling Order in the event that the predicted faction balance doesn't swing again from mass-destruction as it currently stands.

As I sit at work Monday morning licking the window after a couple of very late nights, all I can say is "Bring on the middle of September! "

Greetings,

Just popping in cause we always enjoy playing with you all. About half of the LBB guys are going to give War a try and have been doing the preview events and such. I'll be out of town for two weeks but they're making the server selection choices currently and it might be fun to get on the same server.

Holy Shit LBB

It's been a long long time. We had some great fights back in EQ2, hopefully we end up on the same server.

We will be choosing a Oceanic server at release for obvious reasons ;)

Just wanted to let you know we choose bretonia as home. We're fighting the 3:1 Ratio against destruction and loving it. I'm getting the impression it's like that on all servers is that how you're is as well?

It's not that bad on Darklands since during peak it tends to be queued for both sides, although Order gets a 0-5 minute queue while Destructions has been well over 2 hours.
