  JOINING THE KELLY GANG?
What you need to know before applying to join The Kelly Gang.

The Kelly Gang is a collection of gamers who believe that good MMO PVP far surpasses good MMO PVE in challenge and excitement, whilst recognising that good PVE is usually essential to providing the equipment necessary to be competitive in PVP.

We hunt in the Australasian timezone (GMT+10).

TIMEZONE

We are an Australasian (GMT+10) timezone guild. Our membership is multinational, but if you don't play during aussie peak times this won't be the guild for you.

PVP

We love PvP. We value a good PVP fight over a good PVE fight any day of the week. Any player on the server who is not in an allied guild (we generally limit the number of allies to keep it simple) is a legitimate target.

We're not lowbie gankers. Accidents will happen, and sometimes lowbies will get in our way or be wearing the wrong guildtag at the wrong time - but if your idea of PvP is hanging around lowbie zones and bindpoints, you're looking at the wrong guild.

On the other hand, we love hunting groups in dungeons .. and enjoy nothing so much as ganking a group and then killing and looting their named while they watch us from their unreleased corpses.

Our love of PVP makes our guildtag a hard one to wear. Most guilds will KOS us, most pickup groups will reject us, and if this is not the case we haven't been doing our job right.

You will occasionally get griefed. Especially if you are low-level, some of our enemies get very frustrated with not being able to take our high level groups and go take it out on lowbies. This is part of FFA life, sometimes highlevels will be available to rescue you and sometimes all you will be offered is advice on how to get away/get even.

GROUPING

We're a very group oriented guild. If you're in range with our main level pack you will find yourself daily in guild groups or small groups. If we have a partial, we won't fill it with pickups .. we'll hold the spaces for guildees. That is our ethic.

If you are lower level, groups are more sporadic/ghetto. Some of our lower levels are more casual players who are on rarely, most are working hard to catch our main level pack. We do, however, tend to know the game content very well and work to provide a lot of advice on good solo/small group content for various level range and class combinations.

RAIDING / PHAT LOOT

We will raid in games which possess raid content. We are not a hardcore raid guild, but we have plenty of members who have deep experience with hardcore raidleading. How hard we raid will depend on the content available and the playtimes of our membership at the time, but likely it will be 2-3 raids per week.

GUILD CULTURE

We are an older guild. This does not necessarily mean more mature, but most of us have been playing MMO's for 10+ years. We also have very Australian senses of humour.

If you expect to roleplay, or are easily offended by being called a banana, a beanhead, assigned the guildtitle "treechopping freelove hippie" for harvesting mobs during a grind group .. we are not the guild for you.

LEVELLING / TIME EXPECTATIONS

We are not power levellers, our typical member plays somewhere between 10 and 30 hours a week. On the other hand, most of us did our time in the daily raiding world and have power-gamer mindsets.

There's no point being a part of the guild if you are not going to play with the guild, and the guild progresses to and plays in the high levels.

If you join whilst a long way out of our main level pack and show no signs of catching up, you'll find yourself looking for a new guild.

VENTRILO

We maintain a dedicated, commercially hosted Ventrilo server. PVP without voice is foolish. Most of our members log onto Ventrilo before they fire up the game.

Our groups type very little .. if you don't at least log on to vent in listen mode for groups .. you will find yourself looking for a new guild.. If you don't have a microphone .. that's cool, but you can expect a lot of stirring.

APPLYING TO JOIN

1. Read this far
2. Make an account on these forums and post an application. It doesn't have to be war and peace, just a little about yourself and your gaming past and plans for the current game. Include information on how we can contact you ingame.
3. We'll find you ingame, invite you onto Vent for a chat and if all is good join you up on a trial basis.
4. The transition from trial to member can take a day or a month. It depends on you .. and it's a chance for us to get a feel for how you'll fit in and you to figure out if we're the guild you're looking for. With most people, it's pretty obvious within hours.
